Our self-care program primarily follows McKeown’s (1988) principles, which are widely recognised. She discussess stress managment in the context of self-care, emphasising the Five C’s Method.

CLARITY
Our program focuses on identifying sources of stress. At Better Heart, we always explore past trauma and the inner child. Mental Health (2023) states that past or unhealed trauma impacts various aspects of a person’s life, including overall well-being. This can manifest as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trust issues, self-destructive behaviours, and more.
CHOICE
At Better Heart, we acknowledge that some participants are motivated by stressors such as fear, frustration, and procrastination but may neglect self-care. Our programme emphasises that individuals have the power to make better choices, reduce stress, and learn to “let go”. One of Better Heart’s mottos is “Fill your own cup first”.
CONTROL
Better Heart believes that practicing the first four C’s naturally builds confidence. When individuals realise they are in control, they no longer feel powerless.
CONDITIONING
At Better Heart, we help participants rewire their responses to stress and trauma by introducing routines that strengthen emotional resilience. Through activities such as mindfulness, journaling, nutrition, movement, and regular self-reflection, individuals learn to condition their bodies and minds for long-term wellness. This approach supports them in navigating life’s challenges with greater clarity and purpose.
CONFIDENCE
By guiding participants through the first four C’s – Clarity, Choice, Control, and Conditioning – they begin to realise their own strength and capacity for change. Confidence is the natural outcome of taking consistent, empowered action. It is the foundation for leadership, assertiveness, and the courage to break cycles of trauma.
